Part one
Verb to be (am,is,are)
In the present
Def: verb to be is a basic verb in English. Verb" to be " is conjugated into am, is and are regarding with the subjects used in the sentences in the present.
Meaning: verb to be means គឺ,ជា,កើត,នៅ but sometimes its meaning changes according to the context or situations.
Form:
-Positive : S + am,is,are + n/pro/adj
-Negative: S + am,is,are + not + n/pro/adj
-Question: Am,Is,Are + S + n/pro/adj?
Answer: Yes, S + am,is,are. No, S + am,is,are + not.
Examples:
Positive
1. I am a teacher.
2. You are a student.
3. We are happy today.
4. They are selfish.
5. He is strong.
6. She is fine.
7. It is hot.
Negative
1. I am not from Cambodia.
2. You are not a policeman
3. We are not friends.
4. They are not trees.
5. He is not a baby anymore
6. She is not at home today.
7. It is not your phone.
Question
1. Am I late today?
2. Are you sad?
3. Are they cold?
4. Is he outgoing?
5. Is she beautiful?
6. Is it a wonderful day?
Usages
To be is used to
-Talk about jobs, careers, professions
-Describe what thing(s) is or are
-Describe what is the weather like.
-Talk about a person's tall, size, weight, age, ...
-Tell the times
-Describe a person's personality,
-Tell where thing(s) is or are.
